Goose Lake Prairie State Natural Area
Vast restored tallgrass prairie with seasonal wildflowers, prairie potholes and scattered historic props (log cabin, covered wagon, decorative weathervanes). Trails are mostly flat grass and crushed gravel, easy to hike and quiet—best in spring for blooms and during bird migration for herons and songbirds. Visitor center is often closed; parking at the trailhead. Bring bug spray, water and sunscreen; access is free and mostly wheelchair‑friendly on main paths.
