Small coastal-woodland preserve of oak-hickory forest, wetlands and sandy ridges near Lake Michigan. Photograph winding boardwalks, marsh reflections, migrating songbirds and seasonal color. Best at golden hour for warm side light and long shadows; spring migration and October foliage are prime. Easily walkable trails and roadside parking on W Hogan Rd; no fee. Trails can be muddy after rain—wear waterproof boots. Weekday mornings are quiet.
