Paden Island is a quiet woodland and river channel in the Ohio River Islands NWR — excellent for river landscapes, shoreline reflections, migrating waterfowl, herons and reed-lined compositions. Best at sunrise or golden hour for warm side light and reflections; spring and fall migration bring the most birds. Island access is by private boat or kayak from Paden City launch; expect limited parking at launch sites and no visitor center. Follow refuge rules (stay on open shorelines, pack out trash)
