Owakudani

Owakudani is an active volcanic valley of steaming fumaroles, sulfur-stained ground and the famous black “onsen” eggs—ideal for dramatic landscape and travel shots. Shoots include textured steam plumes, high-contrast mineral colors, ropeway panoramas and, on clear days, Mt. Fuji framed across the valley. Best visited at sunrise or late afternoon for side lighting and reduced crowds; fog and wind change steam patterns dramatically. Accessible by Hakone Ropeway and short walks; parking available (
