Best visited late-June through October for snow-free trails and wildflowers; early morning and late afternoon bring warm side-light and long shadows. Nights are excellent for Milky Way shots — minimal light pollution. Access from CA-88 (Kirkwood) with trailhead parking; day-use is free but overnight backcountry permits are required
