Mosaic of PNW forest—tall Douglas firs, moss‑draped logs, fern carpets, seasonal streams and pockets of old growth. Best at misty sunrise or golden hour for directional light and atmosphere; late fall and spring offer rich colors and fungi. Trails vary from easy to rugged; parking at trailheads (Peavy Arboretum, Dunn Forest lots) and free but limited. Open to public (managed by OSU) — check closures and stay on trails to protect research areas.
