Rugged sandstone outcrop with a natural ‘throne’ perched over the ridge — excellent for sweeping Appalachian ridge lines, fall color, and dramatic sky compositions. Short Mountain State Forest is walk-in access from a nearby pullout on Short Mountain Rd; parking is informal. Best at golden hour and during fall foliage; weekday mornings have fewer people. No fee, basic trail/hike to reach the rock; check weather and wear good shoes for uneven rock and mud.
