Alpine scenery with dramatic cirques, waterfalls, and a high mountain lake framed by 13,000-ft ridges — excellent for meadow-to-summit landscapes and intimate wildflower foregrounds. Best visited late June–September (wildflowers and less snow). Sunrise and golden hour offer crisp side-light; afternoons bring frequent thunderstorms. Trail is steep and high-elevation—plan for altitude, carry layers. Small trailhead lot fills early; no permit required.
