Trailhead to the Sierra Buttes summit and surrounding alpine lakes—dramatic granite spires, panoramic ridgelines, waterfalls and glacial cirques. Best at sunrise or golden hour from the summit for backlit spires and long shadows; late spring–early fall for open trails (snow can persist into summer). Steep ~3.5–4 mi hike with ~2,500 ft gain; limited parking at the trailhead on Forest Service roads, bring water, layers and bear-aware practices. No special permits for day hikes but check Tahoe NF/S
