High-desert alpine basin framed by steep Chisos peaks with the famed ‘Window’ notch — ideal for sunrise/sunset silhouettes, sweeping valley panoramas and Milky Way shots. Accessible by paved road inside Big Bend NP (park entrance fee applies). Campsites and a small lot are nearby; reserve early in season. Best light is pre-dawn and dusk; nights are excellent for astrophotography (low light pollution). Weather can change fast at 5,400 ft and cell service is limited.
