Sentiero Romano is a scenic historic lakeside path above Ascona with Roman-era stones, olive groves, terraced slopes and sweeping views of Lago Maggiore and the Alps. Photograph layered compositions of stone steps/ruins against glassy water at sunrise or warm sunset light. The trail is free, largely pedestrian and moderately easy; parking available in Ascona (walk to trailheads). Best months: spring–autumn for color and mild weather; weekday mornings minimize crowds.
