A remnant oak savanna and prairie with rolling grasslands, scattered bur oaks and seasonal wildflowers — great for wide landscape compositions, intimate plant and insect macro work, and birding. Best in late spring–summer for blooms and nesting birds, and in autumn for warm grasses. Visit at golden hour for soft side-light and long shadows. Small roadside parking off Lake Rd; short uneven walking trails and no entry fee. Bring tick repellent and stay on paths to protect the habitat.
