Notch Trail (Badlands NP) features a narrow, sculpted slot canyon, rust‑red ladders and sweeping views over layered badland buttes — ideal for intimate geology and wide panoramas. Trail is ~1.5 miles round trip with a short ladder section; parking at the SD‑240 trailhead. Best at sunrise or late afternoon for warm side lighting and long shadows; also excellent for Milky Way nightscapes. Park entry fee applies; drones prohibited. Expect heat in summer and wind; stay on marked trail and pack water
