Pee Dee National Wildlife Refuge

Pee Dee NWR is a low-country wetland refuge with marsh impoundments, tidal creeks, open water and hardwood edges — prime for waterfowl, waders, raptors and reflective waterscapes. Best at sunrise/sunset for warm light and mirror reflections; winter hosts large concentrations of ducks and geese, spring/fall bring migrating songbirds. Facilities include a visitor area, parking and short trails/observation platforms; most areas are reachable without a long hike but expect muddy boardwalks and bugs.
