A remote badlands maze of hoodoos, striated sandstone and wind-sculpted forms — classic New Mexico alien landscapes. Best at golden hour or blue hour for warm side-light and long shadows; excellent night skies for Milky Way. Trailhead is primitive (short hike into fragile terrain), no fees but limited parking and no facilities; 4WD not required for trailhead but bring water, sun protection and respect protected soils. Weekdays and shoulder seasons mean fewer visitors and cooler temps.
