Petra's rock-cut facades (most famously the Treasury), narrow Siq approach, and hilltop Monastery offer dramatic compositions of light, texture and scale. Best photographed at sunrise for empty, soft light at the Treasury and at late afternoon for warm side-lighting on the Monastery and cliffs. Access requires a paid ticket (Jordan Pass recommended) and a 20–40 minute walk through the Siq from the visitor center; parking and visitor facilities are at the entrance.
