Emory Peak Trail - Image 1

Emory Peak Trail

Steep 5.2-mile out-and-back to the highest summit in Big Bend. Photograph dramatic panoramic desert and Sierra Madre views, rocky ridgelines, and changing light at sunrise/sunset. Best visited fall–spring for cooler temps; start pre-dawn for sunrise shots. Trailhead/parking at Chisos Basin (park entry fee applies). Trail is strenuous — carry water, sun protection, and permit/park pass. Wildlife (javelina, birds) and seasonal blooms add variety.
