A classic Louisiana swamp: bald cypress alleys draped in Spanish moss, glassy bayous with mirror reflections, abundant wading birds and occasional alligators. Best at dawn for mist and soft backlight, and late afternoon for warm tones. Located in Jean Lafitte NHP, the visitor center has free parking and trail/boardwalk access; no permit needed for stills. Expect mosquitoes—bring repellent—and check tides after heavy rain for higher water and stronger reflections.
