A rare limestone alvar: open, rocky prairie with thin soil, drumlin ridges and carpets of seasonal wildflowers and lichens. Photograph stark textures, low-profile plants, patterns of exposed dolomite, and wide sky compositions. Best in late spring–early summer for orchids and blooms, and in golden hours for long shadows. Small unpaved parking and short trails; no entrance fee. Bring sun protection, bug spray and sturdy shoes—fragile habitat means stay on paths.
