Pecos National Historical Park's Ruins Trail threads through Pueblo masonry, Spanish mission remains and a pine-covered canyon — excellent for compositional contrasts between stone textures, open sky and forested ridges. Visit at golden hour (sunrise or late afternoon) for warm side-lighting and long shadows; spring and fall offer pleasant weather and foliage. Trail is moderately easy (~1–2 miles round trip) with uneven surfaces; park at the visitor center, check NPS hours and respect site rules
