A mosaic of slough, marsh and remnant sand prairie along the Pine River Trail — prime for wildflower close-ups, tallgrass compositions, and waterbird/migrant shots. Best at sunrise/sunset for warm side-light and long shadows; spring migration and summer bloom are peak seasons. Trails and informal parking near Lone Rock; mostly flat, easy hikes but bring bug spray and waterproof shoes after rains. No permit required for casual photography.
