Remnant tallgrass savanna and wetland edges offering wide prairie vistas, seasonal wildflowers, migrating and resident songbirds, and textured grasses. Best in spring for blooms and breeding birds, and in late summer–fall for warm light and seedheads. Trails are unpaved; small parking area at Basco—no entry fee. Expect bugs in warm months and bring sturdy shoes. Dawn and dusk provide the best light and minimal disturbance.
