Karner Blue Nature Sanctuary

Small conservation preserve of oak savanna and lupine meadows famous for the endangered Karner blue butterfly. Photograph delicate blue butterflies, close-up wildflowers, rolling prairie vistas and sunlit oak silhouettes. Best in late May–early July when lupine blooms and butterflies are active; visit at dawn for still subjects and soft light. Trails are short; parking available on Spruce Ave. No formal entry fee but follow signage and stay on paths to protect habitat.
