Jones Lake State Park

Jones Lake is a dark "blackwater" lake framed by bald cypress and tupelo in a rare Carolina pocosin — excellent for moody reflections, fog, and intimate woodland compositions. Best at sunrise and foggy mornings for glassy water and soft light; golden hour yields warm backlight through the cypress knees. Park has a small day-use area, parking lot and boat ramp; trails and boardwalks give shoreline access. Weekdays and early mornings are least crowded. Typical entry follows NC state park fees.
