Black Egg Monument (South)

Active volcanic valley known for the kuro-tamago (black eggs) boiled in sulfur vents and dramatic steam plumes over rugged basalt ledges. Shoot wide panoramas of the steaming fumaroles with Mount Fuji (on clear days) and Lake Ashi in the distance. Best at sunrise or early morning for low crowds, crisp light and atmospheric steam; late afternoon offers warm side light. Access via Hakone Ropeway and local bus from Sengokuhara; parking is limited and the area may close during high volcanic activity
