Best at dawn or golden hour for soft, directional light and mist over bogs; spring (late Apr–May) for bluebells, autumn for colour and fungi. Free entry, several layby parking spots off the B672/near Thurlby; trails are uneven and can be muddy—sturdy boots recommended. No permit required; respect wildlife and stick to foot
