Remote, rugged Allegheny Plateau wilderness with forested ridges, hemlock gorges, clear streams and seasonal waterfalls — excellent for moody landscapes, fall color and intimate nature scenes. Best visited at sunrise or late afternoon for soft side-light and longer shadows; peak foliage in Oct. Spring brings higher stream flows. Access is primitive: trailheads and old roads, limited parking, no facilities or permits; cell reception is spotty. Leave No Trace, bring topo/map and extra water.
