Long Gulch Trailhead is a high-country gateway to alpine streams, spruce-aspen forests and seasonal wildflower meadows — excellent for intimate mountain landscapes, creeks with riffling water and fall color. Best at sunrise/sunset for warm side-light; mid-August–September for wildflowers and late Sept–early Oct for aspens. Access via Forest Rd 817; parking is limited and roads can be rough or closed with snow—carry chains and check Forest Service conditions. No special permits for day hikes but,
