Ancient mixed woodland in the Forest of Dean with canopy views, mossy trunks, boardwalks, pools and hides for close birdlife shots (woodpeckers, pied flycatchers, redstarts). Best in spring for bluebells and migrants, autumn for fungi and color, dawn/dusk for bird activity and mist. Accessible trails and hides; parking at the reserve (check RSPB site for member access/fees). Paths can be muddy—great for intimate low-angle forest compositions and long-lens wildlife work.
