Sandhills Wildlife Management Area - West tract

Sandhills WMA (West tract) is longleaf pine/sandhill habitat — wide sandy ridges, wiregrass, seasonal wildflowers and abundant birds and deer. Shoot dawn and golden hour for warm low-angle light, dramatic shadows from pines and after-prescribed burns for textured landscapes. Access is rustic: small trailhead parking, dirt roads (4WD recommended in wet weather). Check Georgia DNR for seasonal closures, hunting schedules and permit requirements; weekdays and early mornings offer the fewest people.
