MNDNR South Branch of the Vermillion River State Aquatic Management Area (AMA)

A meandering trout stream with riffles, bankside trees and wetlands — great for intimate waterscape compositions, reflections, migrating birds and seasonal foliage. Visit at dawn or dusk for soft light and mist; spring high flows and autumn color are most dramatic. Small pull-offs on Co. Rd. 66; no fee (state AMA), wear waterproof footwear for access to banks. Expect limited facilities and variable trails; use weekday mornings to avoid anglers.
